What is ckc?

CKC is short for the Continental Kennel Club. They are an all-breed registry. They have great information for new dog owners and were a great first registry for us. The also host several different shows but they were always too far from us to be a good option.

What is Rally/Obedience?

Rally and obedience are technically two different things. They are both competitions where a dogs obedience is put to the test. Rally is much faster paced version of an obedience trial.

why do you do puppy desensitization?

We have found that puppies that go through this program are more resilient adults. They adjust to changes in their environment easier and are less likely to have stress related issues. We also socialize them in different ways. Our two boys and nieces help them get used to children without overwhelming them and we also take them on car rides.

It is very important to continue socializing your puppy and introducing them to as many new things as possible at a young age. Once they are fully vaccinated it will be safe to take them on many new adventures.

What is asca?

ASCA is short for Australian Shepherd Club of America. Along with the parent club there are also several smaller clubs in each state. Each of these small clubs host different events year round.

They have a very strict registration policy but will also allow a dog of anybreed to get a tracking number and compete in almost any of their events. (conformation is the only event where other breeds are not allowed because it is an aussie specific show)

What is stockdog?

There are three stock dog trials; Ranch, Farm, and Arena. Within those there is another subset of three; Cattle, Sheep, and ducks. The difference between the trials is the amount of space and obstacles the handler/dog have to move stock through and around. Each group has its own set of awards and titles.
